‘Hemm’ is a reference to gender neutrality, both as a cross of the words ‘him’ and ‘her,’ and also as a derivative of the Swedish gender neutral pronoun ‘hen.’ For a band whose name has many layers of meaning, their single “Dearest Friend” is alarmingly straightforward: it was written as an ode to the people that are most special in our lives.
