In November 2018, I had the honor to write about a refreshing R&B single from local artist Elaine Faye, aka EE Beyond. Called “Dreamer’s Howl,” the song is actually remarkably quiet, mostly acoustic in sound, with the lyrical vigor of a burgeoning musician who is dedicated to her truth. As relevant as that single remains, the entire world has changed since its release, and not just due to the pandemic or the Black Lives Matter movement. Elaine Faye’s life would never be the same after she was diagnosed with breast cancer just weeks prior to the aforementioned track premiere.
